Remove the oil pressure relief valve (see Oil Pressure
Relief Valve Removal).
Check to see if the valve [A] slides smoothly when pushing
it in with a wooden or other soft rod, and see if it comes
back to its seat by spring [B] pressure.

Damping Force Adjustment (
ZX1000JC/KC)
To adjust the damping force, turn the damping adjuster
[A] until you feel a click.
The standard adjuster setting is the 18th click from the
1st of the fully clockwise position. If the damping feels too
soft or too stiff, adjust it in accordance with the following
table.

Armature Inspection
Using the × 1 Ω hand tester range, measure the resistance
between any two commutator segments [A].
Special Tool - Hand Tester: 57001-1394
If there is a high resistance or no reading (∞) between any
two segments, a winding is open and the starter motor
must be replaced.
