Oil Pressure Measurement

Oil Pressure

Standard: About 196 kPa (2.00 kgf/cm², 28 psi) at 4 000 r/min (rpm), Oil Temperature 50°C (122°F)

If the reading is much lower than the standard, check the oil pump, relief valve, and/or crankshaft bearing insert wear immediately.

If the reading is much higher than the standard, check the oil passages for clogging.

WARNING

Hot oil can cause severe burns. Beware of hot engine oil that will drain through the oil passage when the gauge adapter is removed.

Torque - Oil Passage Plug (Taper): 20 N·m (2.0 kgf·m, 15 ft·lb)

Oil Cooler Installation
Replace the O-ring [A] with a new one. Apply grease to the new O-ring. Install the water hoses and hose clamps [A] as shown in the figure. Water Hose (About 300 mm, 11.8 in.) [B] ...

Brake Fluid Level Inspection
Check that the brake fluid level in the front brake reservoir [A] is above the lower level line [B]. NOTE Hold the reservoir horizontal by turning the handlebar when checking brake fluid level. If the fluid level is lower than the lower level line, fill the reservoir to the upper lev ...

Cylinder Head Warp Inspection
Clean the cylinder head. Lay a straightedge across the lower surface of the cylinder head at several positions. Use a thickness gauge [A] to measure the space between the straightedge [B] and the head. Cylinder Head Warp Standard: – – – Service Limit: 0.05 mm (0.0020 in.) ...

Brake Line Bleeding
The brake fluid has a very low compression coefficient so that almost all the movement of the brake lever or pedal is transmitted directly to the caliper for braking action. Air, however, is easily compressed. When air enters the brake lines, brake lever or pedal movement will be partially used ...
